right to bear arms - regulated militia being necessary to security of a free state

unreasonable search & suizure - required law enforcement to have probable cause & have a warrant issued by a judge before conducting searches or seizing property

5th

grand jury, double jeopardy, self incrimination, due process, takings - individuals can’t testify against themselves & ensures due process of law, protects against being tried for same crime twice, can’t take public property without just compensation

6th

right to speedy trial by jury, witnesses, counsel, right to be informed of charged against them - ensuring fairness in legal process

8th

excessive fines, cruel & unusual punishment - protect individuals from inhumane treatment within legal system & ensures punishments are proportionate to crimes committed

14th

citizenship rights, equal protection, appointment, civil war debt - all persons born or naturalized in U.S. are citizens of U.S. & no states can deny any person equal protection under law. - states must respect all legal rights owned to a person

15th

right to vote not denied by race

17th

popular election of senators - allows for the district election of U.S. senators by the people, rather than by states legislatures, change aimed to make senate more accountable to public

19th

womens right to vote

24th

abolition of poll taxes - citizens not be denied by U.S. by reason of failure to pay poll tax or other tax

26th

right to vote at age 18
