Apply a knee high anti embolic stocking to one leg

supplies needed

one knee high stocking, gloves not required

step 1

perform hand hygiene, either sanitize or wash hands

step 2

knock and provide privacy by closing curtain

step 3

identify resident and explain procedure

step 4

ensure wheels are locked and that call light is in reach

step 5

gather supplies (one knee high stocking)

step 6

expose the ONE leg that working on

step 7

roll the stocking inside out to at least the heel

step 8

place stocking over the residents toes, foot, and heel

step 9

flip the rolled stocking part over the leg

step 10

ensure heel is lined with square placement and that toes are aligned with opening

Step 11

STOCKING MUST BE SMOOTH AND WRINKLE FREE

Step 12

lower bed and place call light within reach

Step 13

open curtain

hand hygiene and skill complete
