Operant Conditioning
A learning process where a behavior is associated with a significant event, leading to a change in that behavior.
Thorndike's Law of Effect
The principle stating that the consequences of a behavior determine the likelihood of that behavior being repeated in the future.
Reinforcers
Stimuli that increase the likelihood of a behavior being repeated.
Punishers
Stimuli that decrease the likelihood of a behavior being repeated.
Schedules of Reinforcement
Different patterns that determine when a behavior will be reinforced.
Observational Learning
Learning that occurs through observing the behaviors of others and the outcomes of those behaviors.
Social Learning Theory
A theory that suggests that people learn from one another through observation, imitation, and modeling.
Thorndike's Puzzle Box
An experimental setup used by Edward Thorndike to study animal behavior and learning through trial and error.
Skinner Box
A controlled environment used by B.F. Skinner to study operant conditioning in animals.
