External Food Safety Audit Frequency
Must be conducted at least yearly, with high-risk businesses audited more frequently.
1st-Party Audit
An audit conducted by the business itself to assess if the food safety program is being followed.
2nd-Party Audit
An audit conducted by a government-employed or government-contracted auditor such as an EHO.
3rd-Party Audit
An audit conducted by an independent certified food safety auditor.
Audit Certificate Submission (Food Amendment Act 2009)
The auditor must provide an audit certificate to Local Councils within 14 days.
EHO Inspection Focus Areas
Includes cleanliness, food handling techniques, food temperature, premises structure, FSP implementation, and Food Safety Supervisor.
Types of EHO Inspections
Includes proposed premises, transfer, food safety compliance check, annual inspection, and follow-up inspection.

Even a minor food safety breach can keep a restaurant listed on the public infringement register for two years.
