Power Supply Unit
A critical component that converts the alternating current (AC) electricity from a wall outlet into the low-voltage direct current (DC) electricity that the computer's internal components require to operate. It distributes power to the motherboard, CPU, graphics card, storage drives, and other peripherals.

Steps of the PSU
Takes in high-voltage AC current, steps it down, rectifies it into DC, and then regulates the voltage to provide stable and clean power at various required voltages (e.g., +12V, +5V, +3.3V) to different components.

Efficiency Rating (80 PLUS Certification)
An industry standard that certifies a PSU's energy efficiency. Higher efficiency means less power is wasted as heat, leading to lower electricity bills and less strain on cooling systems.
Types of Efficiency Ratings
Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Titanium, with Titanium being the most efficient.
