family dysfunction
An explanation that suggest its the interpersonal relationships within the family that cause schizophrenia and the symptoms
The schizophrenogenic mother
is a psychodynamic theory that suggests people with schizophrenia get their paranoid delusions as a result of influence of a cold rejecting and controlling mother and a passive father. She creates an atmosphere of stress tension and secrecy in the family. This atmosphere triggers psychotic thinking.
Double blind theory
It suggest the child gets mixed messages and feels unable to do the correct thing. For example being tod they need to be more independent but simultaneously being overprotective and being criticised when they are independent. Bateson suggests this result in disorganised thinking and paranoia

Criticism and control of sufferer= eg do as your told
Hostility = physical verbal or emotional suggests a rejection of that person.
