Function of Electronic Monitoring
To monitor and supervise offenders serving a sentence at home under electronic supervision from a remote location.
Binding-over
A sentence ordering the defendant to keep the peace and demonstrate good behaviour for up to 12 months.

A sentence that withholds a privilege for a specified period or a lifetime.
Plea Bargaining
A negotiated deal whereby the accused pleads guilty in exchange for a lighter sentence. For example, an accused of first-degree murder may plead guilty to second-degree murder.
Benefits of Plea Bargaining
They include reduced sentences and efficiency. The accused receives a lighter sentence and lesser charge which is more favorable, as well as helping to resolve the cases quickly and reduces the time and resources needed for lengthy trials.
How Does the Criminal Justice System Deal with Dangerous Offenders
Through incarceration, subjecting them to imprisonment for a specified period to protect the public. They might be monitored more closely and may have restricted on parole.
Concurrent and Consecutive Sentence
One is a sentence served at the same time, while the other is a sentence that is served one after another.

An alternative measures program that involves a process of healing for both the victim and the offender.

This correctional system can serve up to 2 years, while the other can serve 2 years or more.
Parole
This is the release of an inmate, on a promise of good behaviour, into the community before the full sentence is served. They are under supervision in the community based on good behavior and a demonstrated low risk of reoffending.
Pardon and Eligibility Requirements
This is setting aside a person’s record of conviction. Requirements are a period of good behavior and a set time since the completion of the sentence.
