What a location looks like; this includes a location’s human features and its physical features.
Human Features:
Human Features are those things that were built or created by humans. For example, these are some
of Summit's Human Features.
Physical Features:
Physical Features are those things that humans did NOT build or create. They are natural.
Water forms:
Water forms are things made of water.
Landforms:
Landforms are things made of land (dirt, trees, rocks, etc).
Mountains:
Land with steep sides that rises at least 1,000 feet above surrounding land
Plateau:
An area of flat land at high elevation
Valley:
The low-lying area between mountains or hills
Plain:
An area of level land, usually at a low elevation and often covered with grasses
Delta:
Land formed from soil deposited at the mouth of a river
Basin:
A low area of land surrounded by higher land; it is usually drained by a river and its branches
Peninsula:
A piece of land that is mostly surrounded with water (usually on three sides)
Desert:
Dry land with few plants and little rainfall
Ocean:
A major body of salt water
Sea:
A large body of salt water completely or partly surrounded by land
River:
A large stream of water that runs through the land
Mouth:
Place where a stream or river flows into a larger body of water
