Amino acid
The building blocks of proteins; they can be linked in various orders to form peptide chains of varying length.
Peptide chain
A linear sequence of amino acids connected by peptide bonds; length can vary widely and amino acids can be arranged in any order.
Protein
A macromolecule made of one or more peptide chains that folds into a functional structure; the notes suggest there could be undiscovered proteins (e.g., a hypothetical 'protein A').
Amino acid order
The arrangement of amino acids in a peptide chain; determines the protein’s structure and function.
Combinatorial protein space
The enormous set of possible amino acid sequences; the notes discuss exploring many combinations, potentially with powerful computation.
Multicellular organism from scratch
A theoretical scenario of designing a full organism from first principles; the notes state this is not feasible even in theory.
Quantum computer (in context)
A hypothetical device mentioned as capable of evaluating many possible amino acid sequence combinations to explore protein possibilities.
