Universal rights that you are born with by nature/god that no form of government or culture can take them away justifiably.

What was the New Jersey plan and what did it propose at the CC (constitutional convention)?

A proposal by which Government calling for a single house legislature and that the states would get equal votes.

No matter how big/small a state was.

What was the three fifths compromise ?

A 1787 agreement at the CC where 3/5 of enslaved people were counted for state population for congressional representation.

Where the power of leaders and public officials is limited by law.

It’s power divided between state and central/national government.

An English philosopher who’s ideas influenced the American revolution.

His ideas were more in favor of the people’s say rather than a government’s say.

What were John Lockes ideas ?

Social contract, consent of the governed and natural rights.

Who was Thomas Hobbes ?

A English philosopher who’s ideas influenced the American revolution.

Was in disfavor of more power given to the people rather than a strong government, arguing that people need structure and authority.

What did Thomas Hobbes argue about people ?

That people need a strong central authority a need for structure because without it chaos would happen with a unregulated society.
