A theoretical condition in which individuals live without any established government or societal structure, often used to analyze the justification for political authority.
Unalienable Rights
Rights that cannot be taken away or denied, typically including life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Consent of the Governed
When the government gets the permission to pass laws over their freedom from the nation they govern.
Governed
The people in a country under a government.
Popular Sovereignty
The Idea that the government’s power comes from the consent of the governed is connected to another enlightenment idea.
The RIght of Revolution
The right to overthrow a government if it failed to protect people’s rights.
Limited Government
A government that protects the rights of the people to life, liberty, or property. Any laws that go beyond that are illegitimate.
