Color Vision Tests

The use of polychromatic (multicolored) charts or an anomaloscope (a device for detecting color blindness) to assess an individual’s ability to recognize and differentiate between various colors.

Electroretinogram (ERG)

A diagnostic recording of the changes in the electrical potential of the retina following light stimulation.

Exophthalmometry

The process of measuring the degree of forward protrusion of the eyeball using an instrument called an exophthalmometer.

Gonioscopy

The process of viewing and examining the anterior chamber angle of the eye to evaluate, manage, and classify normal and abnormal angle structures.

Keratometry

The process of measuring the curvature of the cornea using an instrument called a keratometer.

Ophthalmoscopy

The procedure or clinical examination of the external and internal structures of the eye utilizing an ophthalmoscope.

Tonometry

The process of determining intraocular pressure by calculating the resistance of the eyeball to an applied force that causes indentation.

Visual Acuity Test

A test measuring the acuteness or sharpness of vision, commonly performed using a Snellen eye chart where a patient reads letters of decreasing sizes from a distance of 20 feet, with 20/20 representing normal visual acuity.
