Red Side (Patient's left)
Carries oxygenated blood in the mammalian circulatory system.
Blue Side (Patient's Right)
Carries deoxygenated blood in the mammalian circulatory system.
Double Looped CLOSED Circulatory System
The type of circulatory system found in mammals featuring a 4-chambered heart.
4-Chambered Heart
The heart structure characteristic of mammals operating within a double looped closed circulatory system.
Sinoatrial node
A structure located in the right atrium, represented by a grid pattern in the heart diagram.
Aorta
The primary artery that carries oxygenated blood from the left ventricle out to the body.
Aortic valve
The heart valve through which blood leaves the left ventricle to enter the aorta.
Mitral valve
The valve located between the left atrium and the left ventricle.
Tricuspid valve
The valve located between the right atrium and the right ventricle.
Pulmonary valve
The heart valve through which blood exits the right ventricle into the pulmonary artery.
Pulmonary artery
The blood vessel that transports deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs.
Pulmonary vein
The blood vessel that returns oxygenated blood from the lungs into the left atrium.
Vena cava
The large vein returning deoxygenated blood from the body into the right atrium.
Septum
The central muscular wall that divides the right and left sides of the heart.
Left atrium
The upper chamber on the patient's left side that receives oxygenated blood from the pulmonary vein.
Left Ventricle
The lower chamber on the patient's left side that pumps oxygenated blood into the aorta.
Right atrium
The upper chamber on the patient's right side that receives deoxygenated blood from the vena cava.
Right ventricle
The lower chamber on the patient's right side that pumps deoxygenated blood through the pulmonary valve to the lungs.

Blood Vessel Network Sequence
The sequence of blood vessel types transporting blood across systemic circulation: Arteries, Arterioles, Capillaries, Venules, and Veins.

Mammalian Heart Diagram
A visual diagram showing blood flow loops between the 4-chambered heart, lungs, body, and main cardiovascular vessels.

Mammalian Heart Structures List
A reference chart listing anatomical components of the heart, blood vessels, organs, and pacemaker node.
