What are the 6 stages?

  1. Familiarise (read/reread, note initial thoughts)

  2. Generate codes (systematically work through data)

  3. Organise/search for themes (group related codes into potential themes)

  4. Check/review themes (ask if themes reflect data, change etc if needed)

  5. Finalise/define/name (establish what each theme represents and name, interpret not describe)

  6. Write up (detailed analysis using ppt quotes as evidence)

Inductive = data driven. Deductive = guided by existing theory/questions
