Plasma
Liquid component of blood, making up about 55% of its volume; contains water, salts, nutrients, hormones, and proteins.
Erythrocytes
Red blood cells responsible for transporting oxygen and carbon dioxide in the bloodstream.
Leukocytes
White blood cells involved in the immune response; they help defend the body against infections.
Platelets
Small cell fragments essential for blood clotting.
Hematocrit
Percentage of blood volume occupied by red blood cells.
Anemia
Condition characterized by an abnormally low oxygen-carrying capacity of blood due to insufficient red blood cells or hemoglobin.
Leukocytosis
Increase in white blood cell count, often a response to infection.
Blood Typing
Method to determine blood group based on the presence or absence of specific antigens on red blood cells.
ABO Blood Group
Classification of blood based on the presence or absence of A and B antigens.
Rh Factor
Specific antigen present on red blood cells that determines whether blood type is positive (+) or negative (-).
