What is Facilitated Communication
An intervention in which the service provider, a “facilitator”, holds the participant’s hands, wrists, or arms to help them spell messages on a keyboard or a board with printed letters.
Augmentative and Alternative Communication Systems (AAC)
Communication systems that allow an individual who does not speak to INDEPENDENTLY COMMUNICATE. Assistance and prompting is initially required, but as the person learns to use the system all assistance is removed.
