Self-Knowledge
Understanding oneself to recognize and accept personal strengths and limitations, leading to healthier relationships with others.
Introspection
The act of looking inward and reflecting on oneself as a method to gain self-knowledge.
Observation
Monitoring and paying close attention to oneself to better understand personal behaviors and traits.
Feedback
Giving and receiving constructive input from others to increase self-awareness.
Assessment Tools
Instruments or standardized tests used to gain insights into one's character, skills, and self-perception.
Self-Concept Inventory
An assessment measuring an individual's current self-perception across various dimensions rather than measuring permanent abilities.
Physical Appeal
A dimension of self-concept referring to how an individual views their personal appearance and grooming.
Human Relations (Self-Concept)
A dimension of self-concept focused on how an individual perceives their ability to interact, show empathy, and work in teams.
Intelligence (Self-Concept)
A dimension of self-concept relating to how one views their own learning, reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
Character (Self-Concept)
A dimension of self-concept based on one's values, honesty, integrity, and sense of responsibility.
Self-Awareness
Knowing and understanding oneself, including strengths, weaknesses, emotions, thoughts, values, beliefs, interests, abilities, and impact on others.
Self-Acceptance
Embracing oneself as is—including strengths, weaknesses, successes, and mistakes—while continuing to strive for personal growth.
Self-Regulation
Managing thoughts, emotions, and behavior to respond appropriately to different situations.
Reflection Triangle
A framework for personal growth composed of Self-Awareness (discovery), Self-Acceptance (embracing), and Self-Regulation (management).
Healthy Relationship
A connection built on trust, honest communication, empathy, respect for boundaries, and responsibility, where individuals feel safe, valued, heard, and supported.
Personal Boundaries
Limits established to protect an individual's time, feelings, privacy, and personal values by defining what behaviors are comfortable and uncomfortable.
Social Influence
The way in which other people affect an individual's thoughts, feelings, or actions.
Social Perception
The mental process by which an individual understands, interprets, or judges other people.
Social Interaction
The process by which individuals communicate and act with or react to each other.
Cooperation
Working together jointly with others to accomplish a common goal.
Accommodation
Adjusting or compromising personal preferences in order to maintain harmony in a relationship.
Competition
Striving to perform better or achieve higher success than others.
Conflict
A disagreement or clash between individuals caused by differences in beliefs, needs, expectations, feelings, goals, or communication styles.
Intergenerational Relationship
A relationship formed between individuals belonging to different generations, such as a teenager and a grandparent.
I-Statements
A communication strategy used to express feelings without assigning blame, following the structure: "I feel… when… because… I would like…".
REPAIR Process
A model for fixing relationships comprised of six steps: Recognize the problem, Express feelings, Practice active listening, Apologize, Identify ways to improve, and Rebuild trust through actions.
Interpersonal Effectiveness
The ability to communicate and collaborate with others productively while showing respect, empathy, and concern.
Nonverbal Communication
Sending and receiving messages or expressions without using spoken or written words.
Empathy
The ability to understand and share the feelings or perspective of another person.
Pro-social Behavior
Actions intended to help, benefit, or care for other people.
Other-centeredness
The habit of considering and prioritizing the needs and feelings of others.
Pakikipagkapwa
A interpersonal value defined as recognizing and honoring the inherent dignity and worth of fellow human beings.
Compassion
Recognizing the suffering or hardship of others combined with a genuine desire to help them.
Fairness
Treating people in a just, equitable, and unbiased manner.
Kindness
Actions that display care, respect, and consideration for others without sacrificing necessary personal boundaries.
Body Composition
The relative proportion of fat mass to fat-free mass in the human body.
Body Mass Index (BMI)
A measurement of body composition calculated using the formula BMI=Height2(m2)Weight (kg).
Flexibility
The ability of joints to move freely through a full range of motion.
Zipper Test
A physical fitness test designed to measure shoulder flexibility.
Sit and Reach
A physical fitness test used to measure the flexibility of the lower extremities, particularly the hamstrings.
Basic Plank
A physical test measuring core muscle strength and stability by holding a straight-body position on forearms and toes up to a maximum recorded time of 90seconds.
Reaction Time
The amount of time taken by an individual to respond to a given stimulus.
Stick Drop Test
An assessment of reaction time in which a performer catches a dropped ruler across three trials, recording the middle score.
Muscle Strength
The ability of a muscle or muscle group to generate force.
Push-Up Test
A physical fitness test used to evaluate upper extremity muscle strength.
Balance
The ability to maintain equilibrium while remaining stationary or during movement.
Stork Balance Test
A physical test measuring static balance by standing on one foot while keeping the body stable.
Power
The capability to exert maximum muscular strength quickly in explosive movements.
Standing Long Jump
A fitness test measuring leg power using a two-foot takeoff and landing, recording the best distance across two trials.
Coordination
The ability to use body parts and senses together smoothly and accurately during physical actions.
Juggling Test
A physical fitness assessment used to measure eye-hand coordination.
Agility
The ability to change body position and direction rapidly and accurately while maintaining speed.
Hexagon Agility Test
An agility test where an individual jumps back and forth across the sides of a hexagon clockwise and counter-clockwise for three full revolutions.
Cardiovascular Endurance
The ability of the heart, lungs, and blood vessels to supply oxygen to working muscles during sustained physical activity.
Beep Test
Also known as the 20m Shuttle Run or Multistage Fitness Test; a test evaluating cardiovascular endurance where participants run between two lines 20m apart to timed beeps.
