1
New cards

Recall what happens to the original Thane of Cawdor and the King’s reaction

He commits treason and goes to the other side; Duncan decides to execute him: Can’t judge someone based on how they look

2
New cards

What do the witches say throughout the first scene? What are their predictions/prophecies?

Fair is foul and foul is fair (good can appear good and bad things may be good), Macbeth will become king, and Banquo will not become king but his children will (lesser than Macbeth but eventually greater than Macbeth, not so happy, yet much happier)

3
New cards

Recall the plan Macbeth and Lady Macbeth have in killing the king. What events happen before Macbeth kills the king? What things does Lady Macbeth do to help Macbeth with his plan? (make sure you know all of the details).

Lady Macbeth would drunken the servants while Macbeth would go into Duncan's room to kill him (with the sound of the bel ~symbol to heaven or hell~l ringing for his cue to kill), then they would smear the blood on Duncan onto the servants and leave the daggers on them as they sleep drunkenly. Lady Macbeth helps by drugging the servants, she’s the one who does the framing, she didn’t want to do the killing cause she would’ve been reminded of her father through Duncan

4
New cards

Recall what is going through Macbeth’s mind as he thinks about killing the king

He’s in the middle thinking he wants to and not kill the king, he hallucinates a bloody dagger for what he’s about to do

5
New cards

Pinpoint important details after the king died. What were the character’s reactions to the king's death? Why did they react the way they did?

Macduff finds Duncan dead, Macbeth acts shocked, Lady Macbeth says get over it, Macbeth kills the servants (outside: Macbeth couldn’t stand seeing them alive, and inside: really kills them cause they are evidence), Duncan's sons run away (Malcum and Danaldbain) they didn’t tell anyone so they look suspicious
