Catholic Church
The largest Christian church, also called the Roman Catholic Church, with over a billion members worldwide.
Biblical Foundation of the Church
Scriptural roots that ground the Church’s nature, mission, and role in salvation history.
Pope
The spiritual leader of all Catholics and head of the Church’s hierarchical structure.
Sacraments
Sacred rituals of the Church that confer grace; central among them is the Eucharist.
Eucharist
The sacrament commemorating Christ’s Last Supper, viewed as the real presence of Jesus under bread and wine.
Trinity
One God in three distinct yet inseparable persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Father
The Creator and source of all life, the first person of the Trinity.
Son (Jesus Christ)
God who became human, suffered, died, and rose to save the world and offer eternal life.
Holy Spirit
God’s presence and power at work in the world and in believers, the third person of the Trinity.
Gospel
The message of Jesus Christ that the Church is called to spread, promoting faith, hope, and love.
Worship and Adoration
Acts of prayer and devotion through which Catholics express gratitude and reverence toward God.
Spiritual Growth
The Church’s guidance and support that help individuals deepen their faith.
Building Community
The Church’s role in fostering unity, fellowship, and mutual support among members.
Service to Others
The Catholic calling to aid especially the poor, following Jesus’s example of compassion and love.
Social Justice
The Church’s promotion of human dignity, equality, and the common good.
Catechesis and Education
Instruction and formation that help individuals understand and live out Catholic beliefs.
Moral Guidance
Direction sought from the Church on ethical issues to live according to God’s will and Jesus’s teachings.
