What is the Internet?
A worldwide collection of networks that links millions of businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, and individuals.
What were the two main goals of ARPANET when it originated?
To allow scientists at different locations to share information and to function even if part of the network was disabled or destroyed.
What are the main types of wired Internet connections?
Cable Internet service, DSL (digital subscriber line), and Fiber to the Premises (FTTP).
What is an IP address?
A sequence of numbers that uniquely identifies each computer or device connected to the Internet.
What is the purpose of a DNS server?
To translate a domain name into its associated IP address.
What is the function of a web browser?
An application that enables users to access and view webpages on a computer or mobile device.
What does a home page represent on a website?
The first page that a website displays.
How does a search engine operate?
It finds websites, webpages, images, videos, news, maps, and other information related to a specific topic.
What is a cybercafé?
A location that provides computers with Internet access, usually for a fee.
What is netiquette?
The code of acceptable Internet behavior.
