Energy
What is need to do work.
Electron volt (eV)
The unit often used in radiology to indicate energy.
Proton
A subatomic particle with a (+positive) charge, located within the nucleus.
Neutron
A subatomic particle with (0 no charge), located within the nucleus.
Electron
A subatomic particle with a (−negative) charge, located in the orbital shells.
Neutral/Stable Atom
An atom that has an equal amount of protons and electrons; if one goes missing it makes it unstable.
Electromagnetic Energy (Interaction)
When interacting with matter, this energy behaves like a particle.
Electromagnetic Energy (Travel)
When traveling through space, this energy travels in the form of Waves.
Ion
An atom that has becomes such by losing or gaining an electron.
Ionizing radiation
Radiation capable of removing an orbital electron from the tissue atom it interacts with.
