How are anatomy and physiology defined, and how do they differ?
Anatomy is the study of structure, whereas physiology is the study of how those body structures function.

Differentiation is the development of a cell from an unspecialized to a specialized state (e.g., a single-cell zygote developing into an embryo, then into a fetus).
How is homeostasis defined?
Homeostasis is a condition of equilibrium, or balance, in the body's internal environment, maintained by regulatory processes.
What is extracellular fluid (ECF) and why is it essential to cell survival?
Extracellular fluid (ECF) is the fluid located outside body cells. The survival of body cells depends on the precise regulation of the chemical composition of the ECF surrounding them.
What are the specific names given to extracellular fluid (ECF) depending on its location in the body?
What are the three components of a homeostatic feedback system?
How does a negative feedback system operate, and what is an example?
A negative feedback system reverses a change in a controlled condition. Example: An increase in blood pressure triggers a response to decrease heart rate and promote vasodilation, returning blood pressure to normal.
How does a positive feedback system operate, and what is an example?
A positive feedback system strengthens or reinforces a change in a controlled condition. Example: During childbirth, uterine contractions stretch the cervix, causing the release of oxytocin, which leads to progressively stronger contractions until birth occurs.
What is the difference between a disorder and a disease?
A disorder is an abnormality in structure or function, whereas a disease is an illness characterized by a recognizable set of signs and symptoms.
What is the difference between symptoms and signs of a disease?
Symptoms are subjective changes in body functions that are not observable to an examiner (e.g., pain, nausea), whereas signs are objective changes that can be observed and measured (e.g., swelling, rash, fever).
What is the standard anatomical position?

What do the terms 'prone' and 'supine' mean?

Superficial (external): Toward or on the surface of the body. Deep (internal): Away from the surface of the body.
