Random Sampling

everyone in the entire target population has an equal chance of being selected

Stratifeid sampling

the researcher identifies the different types of people that make the target population and works out the proportions needed for the sample to be representative

opportunity sampling

participants are chosen based on their ease of availability and proximity to the researcher, rather than using random or systemic criteria

Systemic sampling

every (x)th person is selected from a list or sequence to from a sample

Volunteer sampling

participants who volunteer themselves to take part in the experiment

snowball sampling

recruit participants via other participants

Purposive sampling

seeking out individuals who meet a certain criteria
