Candidate knows in what publication(s) applicable speeds can be found

Candidate can demonstrate their knowledge with regards to the various line side speed signage

Candidate can articulate the differences between PS speeds, EPS speeds and differential speeds.

Candidate can demonstrate their knowledge with regards to the various line side equipment used during Emergency Speed Restrictions (ESR)& Temporary Speed Restrictions (TSR).

Candidate can demonstrate their knowledge with regards to variations of ESR's & TSR's and when the AWS electromagnet is disconnected i.e. junctions & bi-directional lines etc.

Candidate understands their responsibilities to adhere to speed restriction for length of their train

Candidate understands the reporting procedure for defective or missing ESR/TSR equipment

Candidate understands a 'Blanket Speed Restriction' its formulation and how one is applied.
