Gamete
A reproductive cell that unites with another reproductive cell to form a new organism.
Spermatogenesis
The process of sperm cell production in the male reproductive system.
Oogenesis
The process of oocyte (egg) production in the female reproductive system.
Meiosis
A type of cell division that reduces the chromosome number by half, producing four haploid cells.
Testosterone
The primary male sex hormone responsible for the development of male characteristics.
Estrogen
The primary female sex hormone responsible for the development of female characteristics.
Endometrium
The inner lining of the uterus that thickens during the menstrual cycle.
Menopause
The time in a woman's life when menstrual periods permanently stop.
Vasectomy
A surgical procedure for male sterilization involving cutting and sealing the vas deferens.
IUD (Intrauterine Device)
A small device inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy.
Fertilization
The process by which a sperm cell unites with an egg cell to form a zygote.
Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
A hormone that triggers ovulation and stimulates the production of testosterone in men.
Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH)
A hormone that stimulates the growth of ovarian follicles in women and spermatogenesis in men.
Corpus Luteum
A temporary endocrine structure involved in the menstrual cycle and early pregnancy.
Endometriosis
A condition where tissue similar to the lining inside the uterus grows outside of it.
Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)
A hormonal disorder causing enlargement of ovaries with cysts.
Testes
The male reproductive organs where sperm are produced.
Ovaries
The female reproductive organs responsible for producing eggs and hormones.
