Testes

Male reproductive organs that produce sperms and the hormone testosterone.

Scrotum

A special sac outside the abdominal cavity containing the testes that keeps them slightly below body temperature for optimal sperm production and acts as a protective pouch.

Sperm ducts

Tubes that carry sperms from the testes to the urethra.

Prostate gland

A gland that secretes a fluid that activates and feeds sperms.

Seminal vesicle

A gland that secretes a fluid (seminal fluid) that aids in sperm mobility.

Urethra

A tube that carries urine and semen out of the male's body at different times.

Epididymis

A coiled tube that stores sperms.

Penis

An organ used to deposit sperms into the female's vagina during sexual intercourse.

Semen

A fluid containing sperms and seminal fluid.

Ovaries

Female reproductive organs that produce ova (eggs) and the hormones oestrogen and progesterone.

Oviducts

Tubes through which ova pass when released from the ovary, and the region where fertilization occurs.

Uterus

The region in the female reproductive system where the embryo is implanted after fertilization.

Cervix

A ring of muscle closing the lower end of the uterus where it joins the vagina, which dilates / widens during child birth.

Vagina

The structure that accommodates (receives) the penis during sexual intercourse, where sperms are deposited from the male, and serves as a birth canal.

Ovulation

The process where ova are released from the ovary into the oviduct.
