What is the aim of this practical?
Obtain dry crystals of substance e.g copper sulfate

Take a base (e.g powdered copper oxide) and mix with heated acid (e.g concentrated sulfuric acid) to cause a neutralisation reaction that produces a salt solution (copper sulfate solution in this example)
What is step 2?
Add excess copper oxide, indicated by unreacted powder at the bottom of the beaker
What is step 3?
Filter, then heat solution in an evaporating basin on a beaker of water over a tripod, gauze and Bunsen burner
What is step 4?
Once the water has evaporated, dry the crystals produced by placing on filter paper and pat dry
