Titration
A technique used to determine the concentration of a solution (analyte) by reacting it with a solution of known concentration (titrant).
Analyte
The solution of unknown concentration that is being titrated.
Titrant
The solution of known concentration that is used to titrate the analyte.
Equivalence Point
The point in a titration where the amount of titrant added is stoichiometrically equivalent to the amount of analyte present in the sample.
Endpoint
The point in a titration where a visual indicator changes color, signaling that the reaction is complete. It is an approximation of the equivalence point.
Acid-Base Indicator
A substance that changes color depending on the pH of the solution, used to visually determine the endpoint of a titration.
Neutralization
The reaction between an acid and a base that results in the formation of a salt and water.
Strong Acid/Base
Acids/bases that completely dissociate in water.
Weak Acid/Base
Acids/bases that partially dissociate in water.
