Americans came out believe that they had a divine mission to occupy the continent form the Atlantic to the Pacific Oceanand spread democracy and civilization. This belief drove westward expansion and justified the annexation of territory.

Push factors included economic hardship, lack of land, and political instability, while pull factors comprised the promise of land ownership, job opportunities, and the hope for a better life in the West.

When did Mexicans win independence form Spain and what land did they occupy?

Mexicans won independence from Spain in 1821, occupying land that included present-day Mexico and parts of the United States. Including Texas to California.

What did Mexicans do while in Texas?

They invited Americans to settle in Texas promising less government and lower taxes. This led to increased American immigration and tensions between settlers and the Mexican government.

Texans fought for independence from Mexico they created the Republic of Texas from 1836-1846.
