Peristalsis is a wave like motion of smooth muscle to advance substances.

Abduction is the movement of a limb away from the midline of the body.

Flexion is the bending motion that decreases the angle between two bones at a joint.

Extension is the movement that increases the angle between two parts of the body at a joint.

Hyperextension

Hyperextension is the abnormal extension of a joint beyond its normal range of motion, the angle between bones becomes greater than normal.

Plantarflexion is the movement that points the foot and toes downward.

Dorsiflexion

Dorsiflexion is the movement of lifting the foot upward, bringing the toes and the top of the foot closer to the shin.

Supination is the rotation of the forearm and hand so the palm faces upwards.

Origin of this muscle is the anterior shoulder and the insertion point is the anterior elbow.

This muscle allows elbow flexion.

Action: Elbow extension

Action: Extends or hyperextension the head and neck (also helps with shoulder
