  • The poem is told from the perspective of Laura the wife of Eddie Beddoes a soldier who served in the Bosnia war in 1992-1995 and was discharged due to injury, he was then later diagnosed with PTSD

  • Every injury gets it’s own couplet the long process Laura had to help with

  • Some couplets rhyme some don’t end( gives a Fragmented and disjointed feel to the poem)

  • Mines are used in war to show he ahs become a weapon of war

  • The metaphor that is used is an incredibly uncomfortable one, but communicates very clearly the awful after affects of war

  • He can explode any time like a mine would and if he does he will cause pain for both of them
