What clinical indication requires the SAM Pelvic Sling?

Suspected pelvic fracture.

What should be removed from the patient before applying the SAM Pelvic Sling?

Objects from the patient's pockets or pelvic area.

How is the SAM Pelvic Sling initially placed on the patient?

Back side up, beneath the patient at the level of the trochanters (hips).

What is the first strap action when applying the SAM Pelvic Sling?

Place the black strap through the buckle and pull completely through.

How is the SAM Pelvic Sling tightened?

Hold the orange strap and pull the black strap in opposite directions until you hear and feel the buckle click.

Should you be concerned if a second click is heard after the SAM Pelvic Sling is secured?

No, do not be concerned if you hear a second click.

How is the SAM Pelvic Sling secured after the buckle click?

Maintain tension and immediately press the black strap onto the surface of the sling.

What should be documented after applying the SAM Pelvic Sling?

The time of application in the ePCR.

How is the SAM Pelvic Sling removed?

Lift the black strap by pulling it upward, maintaining tension and slowly allowing the sling to loosen.

What should be monitored during prolonged use of the SAM Pelvic Sling?

The patient's skin.
