Organs: Skin and accessory organs (hair & nails)
Function: Protects tissue, regulates body temperature, and contains sensory organs
Skeletal System
Organs: Bones, cartilage, and ligaments
Function: Protects body parts, produce blood cells, and stores calcium and phosphorus salts
Muscular System
Organs: Skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscles
Function: Moves voluntarily, responds to stimuli, and produces body heat
Nervous System
Organs: Brain, spinal cord, and nerves
Function: Conducts nerve impulses from the sense organs a to the brain and then to the muscles and glands
Endocrine System
Organs: Hypothalamus, pituitary, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenals, pancreas, ovaries, testes
Function: Secretes chemicals that are messengers between body parts, and maintains proper functioning of the reproductive system
Circulatory System
Organs: Heart, blood vessels, blood
Function: Transports nutrients and oxygen through the cells, and removes wastes
Immune/Lymphatic System
Organs: Lymph nodes, thymus, spleen
Function: Protects the body from disease
Respiratory System
Organs: Nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, lungs
Function: Bring oxygen into the lungs and take carbon dioxide out of the lungs
Digestive System
Organs: Mouth, pharynx, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine, and rectum
Function: Receives food and digests it into nutrient molecules
Urinary System
Organs: Kidneys and urinary bladder
Function: Gets rid of nitrogenous wastes, and helps regulate the fluid level and chemical content of the blood
Reproductive System
Organs: (M) Testes, epididymis, vas deferens, urethra, penis; (F) Ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina
Function: (M) Produce sex cells; (F) Produce sex cells, as well as nourish and protect the fetus
