What is a strong acid?
An acid that fully ionises in an aqueous solution
What is a weak acid?
An acid that partially ionises in an aqueous solution
What is a dilute acid?
An acid that has fewer acid molecules in a given volume
What are examples of strong acids?
Hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulfuric acid
What are examples of weak acids?
Ethanoic acid, citric acid, carbonic acid
Why do strong acids have a lower pH than weak acids in aqueous reactions?
They completely ionise, meaning they produce a greater concentration of Hydrogen ions than weak acids
What happens to the concentration of Hydrogen ions if the pH unit goes up by 1?
It goes up by 10, this is called the order of magnitude?
