While supporting arm at the elbow and at the wrist, raise client's straightened arm from side position upward toward head to ear level and return arm down to side of body (flexion/extension) (AT LEAST 3 TIMES unless pain is verbalized); Move joint gently, slowly, and smoothly through the range of motion, discontinuing exercise if client verbalizes pain
After going through passive range of motion for one shoulder (flexion and extension), what is the next step (5)?
While supporting arm at the elbow and at the wrist, move client's straightened arm away from the side of the body to shoulder level and returns to side of the body (abduction/adduction) (AT LEAST 3 TIMES unless pain is verbalized); Move joint gently, slowly, and smoothly through the range of motion, discontinuing exercise if client verbalizes pain
