Things to Remember about The Stages of Moral Development
One must go step by step through these stages; you can't skip stages. The stages are the same across cultures, though the rate at which one progresses through them may vary. Exposure to people who are in the higher stages helps others grow into new stages. Children and Adults are attracted to one stage above where they are. They can only understand the ones they have been through, the one they are in, and one above them. The stages progresses from an individual focus to a universal focus. Learning about these stages actually helps one to grow in his/her moral development.
