Evaporation
The process where water is heated by the sun, warms up, and changes from a liquid to a gas before rising into the atmosphere.

Water vapor
Water in a gas form.
Transpiration
The process in the water cycle where plants move water from their roots to their leaves, changing it to water vapor that is released to the atmosphere.

Condensation
The step of the water cycle where rising water vapor cools down due to dropping temperatures, turns back into a liquid, and comes together to create a cloud.
Precipitation
Water falling to the ground as rain, sleet, snow, or hail when clouds become too large and heavy and gravity pulls the water droplets toward the earth.

Surface Runoff
The movement of precipitation running off into a collection where it can be heated by the sun to cause evaporation again.
