Regarding mentorship… (6)
1) Students in this course must conduct themselves in a professional manner and adhere to all mentors’ confidentiality policies. All student interactions must be conducted with professionalism and integrity.
2) Real-world, professional experience is a core component of the ISM program. Mentors commit their time to meet with ISM students dependent upon mentor availability and amiability. Students and mentors should meet virtually or in-person every other week at minimum. Missed meetings could jeopardize their relationship with their mentor and are a poor reflection upon the ISM program.
3) ISM students must follow the mentor's wishes regarding appointments and communication. Some of these forms include: email, telephone calls, text messages, virtual meetings, etc.
4) As the mentorship progresses and student knowledge increases throughout the year, students are expected to take increasing ownership of their topic of study and direction of studies.
5) ISM students must follow their mentor’s expectations regarding appointments and personal telephone calls, email communications, and text messages while at the mentor’s office or while meeting virtually. ISM students will keep their ISM teacher informed of issues or concerns that may arise related to their mentorship experience, in a timely manner. Should a concern arise, parents should not contact a mentor; all mentor contact will be made through the ISM teacher.
6) All emails between a student and a community professional should have their teacher CC’d.
