Hanging valley

Forms when a smaller glacier at a higher elevation approaches a large valley carved by a much larger glacier. A waterfall can form where the land drops off.

Outwash Plain

Flat area formed from materials deposited by meltwater from glaciers.

Moraine

Accumulation of debris (till) carried by a glacier, often found at its sides or end.

Kettle Lake

A depression or hole in the ground left by a melting glacier that fills with water, forming a lake.

A massive, slow-moving body of ice formed from compacted snow, moving under its own weight.
