biodiversity is the?
The existence of a wide range of different types of organisms in a given place in a given time
basically the diversity of plant and animal life in a particular habitat or the world as a whole
Carl Linnaeus invented the? (or what medium did he use to classify stuff)
Animals and vegetables
Ernst Haeckel invented the? (or what medium did he use to classify stuff)
Protista (basically eukaryotes (not plants nor animals or fungi)), animals and plants
Thomas Whittaker invented the? (or what medium did he use to classify stuff)
Prokaryotes - Monera (bacteria)
Eukaryotes -
-Protista (not plants nor animals or fungi)
-Fungi
-Animals
-Plantae (all of these are in eukaryotes)
the 5 kingdoms of classification
Protists
Monerans
Fungi
Plants
Animals

Prokaryotes are? And what are their characteristics?
Bacteria.
They are the smallest, simplest and most abundant cells on earth.
They lack a well-defined nucleus and most organelles (cuz they don’t have membrane-bound organelles)
The cells contain genetic material (one chromosome) and an organelle (ribosome) for making proteins.
(Oh, and they do not have any membrane-bound organelles. The DNA is surrounded by the cytoplasm and is not in a nuclear membrane.
What is the plasmid for?
It is extra chromosomal material circular DNA which contains genes to give the bacteria a selective advantage (this leads to them being immune to antibiotics, etc)
ALR DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CELL WALLS BACTERIA VS FUNGAL VS PLANT
Plant cell wall - made of cellulose
Bacteria cell wall - peptidoglycan
Fungal cell wall - chitin
Cells of eukaryotes are? Also where do fungi, animals and plants belong to? and what do these cells possess?
Cells are large and complex
Fungi, plants and animals belong to this group
The cells possess organelles like the nucleus, mitochondrion, chloroplasts and others.
Prokaryotes vs Eukaryotes
Eukaryotes are bigger than prokaryotes; they have a true nucleus, and they have membrane-bound organelles.
Prokaryotes are smaller than eukaryotes as they originate from bacteria; they do not have a defined nucleus and they do not have any membrane-bound organelles.
Viruses. Where do they belong to? Also, where is their dna?
They do not belong to any kind of classification as they aren’t living at all. They lack the living matter that all cells have - protoplasm and they depend on other cells to reproduce.
Viruses’ DNA is surrounded by proteins.
