Individuals 2 years or older, average daily intake, and includes variety in diet
Chronic Disease Reduction Intake (CDR)
The goal is to decrease the risk of chronic disease, focusing on sodium intake and maintaining 2300 mg/day
Estimated Average Requirements (EAR)
Applies to 50% of the population, gives KNOWN amounts, and is backed by research and policies
Tolerable Upper Intake Levels (UL)
Measure of when is “too much” in terms of safe consumption, and is NOT applied to ALL NUTRIENTS
Recommended Dietary Allowances (RDA)
Applied to 98% of the population, gives KNOWN amounts, and is NOT applied to all NUTRIENTS
Adequate Intake (AI)
Applied to 98% of the population, measure of “good enough” or “appears sufficient”, lacks evidence because it’s unethical to test
Acceptable MACRONUTRIENT Range (AMDR)
Carbohydrates (45-65%), Lipids (20-35%), and Protein (10-35%*)
*Percent of TOTAL CALORIC INTAKE per DAY!
