Why are the 3 arms needed?

They are needed as they as the House of Lords brings diversity to parliament as well and knowledge and expertise from a range of occupations. The 3 arms usually approve acts of Parliament before they become law.

House of Lords will sometimes reject a bill. House of Commons can overrule if needed and the power rests with the House of Commons.
