TKE What does it Stand for

The acronym stands for: character, scholarship, leadership, teamwork, service, and brotherhood.

Flat Hat Club

A social club founded at William and Mary on November 11, 1750; famous member included Thomas Jefferson.

Knights of Classic Lore

A society aimed at aiding college men in mental, moral, and social development for life.

First charter of TKE

Alpha, located at Illinois Wesleyan University.

Second charter of TKE

Beta, located at Millikin.

Third charter of TKE

Gamma, located at University of Illinois.

Triangle formation of first charters

The first three charters formed an equilateral triangle geographically.

Triangle broken

The triangle was broken in 1912 at the Delta Chapter at Knox College in Galesburg, IL.

First national fraternity

Phi Beta Kappa, founded at William and Mary on December 5, 1776.

Other fraternities during TKE founding

Sigma Chi and Pi Gamma Delta were present at Illinois Wesleyan University when TKE was founded.

First national chapter

The Canadian Zeta Iota Chapter at the University of Manitoba on March 15, 1958.

West coast chapter of TKE

Nu Chapter at the University of California, founded on October 3, 1919.
