Diaphanous
an adjective used to describe something (usually a fabric or material) that is so light, delicate, and fine in texture that it is almost completely transparent or translucent; once crowned “the most beautiful word in the English language” by a over a thousand poets and literary enthusiasts (as part of a collaboration between the Poetry Society of America and Babbel).

Why is King Tutankhamen so popular in the modern age?
The Black Plague. Beforehand, the lingua francas of the elites and churches were French and Latin, respectively, while the peasants stuck to English. However, after the Black Death wiped out about 1/3 of Europe’s population, the lower classes gradually rose in status and influence, making way for English to become more and more often used as the language of instruction until it became Europe’s lingua franca.
How did English become the lingua franca of much of Western Europe?
