boston tea party
colonial protest against the british tea act of 1773 which placed a monopoly and tax on tea sld to the colonies. Rather than allowing the tea to be unloaded ad sold, boston protestors boarded the ships in december 1773, seized the cargo and dumped 342 crates of tea into the boston harbor
