1830, Jackson ordered the removal of Native Americans off the land they had lived on for decades

The Supreme Court ruled that the Native Americans’ right to stay on their land was protected by the Constitution

The forced removal of over 15,000 Cherokee west of the Mississippi, thousands died on the journey
