Embedded in relationships and social roles; self-cultivation through virtue and propriety.

What is the Buddhist concept of Anatta?

No permanent self; identity is impermanent and interconnected.

How does Taoism view the self?

Natural self in harmony with the Tao; simplicity and non-action (Wu Wei).

How does Western self differ from Eastern self?

Western = independent, defined by traits, goal is self-actualization. Eastern = relational, defined by roles, goal is harmony.
