Fibularis (peroneus) longus

Superficial lateral muscle that overlies the fibula; originates at the head and upper portion of the fibula.

Fibularis (peroneus) brevis

Smaller muscle located deep to fibularis longus; originates at the distal portion of the fibula shaft.

Tibialis anterior

Superficial muscle of the anterior leg that parallels the sharp anterior margin of the tibia; originates at the lateral condyle and upper 2/3 of the tibia, and the interosseous membrane.

Extensor digitorum longus

Muscle located on the anterolateral surface of the leg, lateral to tibialis anterior; originates at the lateral condyle of the tibia, proximal 3/4 of the fibula, and interosseous membrane.

Fibularis (peroneus) tertius

Small muscle, often fused to the distal part of extensor digitorum longus; originates at the distal anterior surface of the fibula and interosseous membrane.

Extensor hallucis longus

Muscle located deep to extensor digitorum longus and tibialis anterior; originates at the anteromedial shaft of the fibula and interosseous membrane.
