MICE
Stands for Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions.
Commune
An event classification by purpose describing events intended to strengthen community bonds and share common experiences.
Local Events
Smaller gatherings that draw a local audience and have a minimal economic footprint.
Mega-Event
An event classification by impact that draws massive audiences and has a massive economic footprint, such as The Olympic Games.
One-Time Events
Unique, single-occurrence events not intended to be repeated.
Recurring Event
An event defined by happening on a predictable schedule.
Arts and Entertainment Events
Events centered on artistic expression, creativity, and entertainment, such as concerts and film festivals.
Planned Events
Events deliberately designed, organized, and managed to accomplish particular goals.
Incentive Travel
Travel experiences provided by organizations as a reward or motivational program for high-performing employees.
Buying Power
Refers to the strength of the exchange rate, which is a key factor in deciding on an incentive travel destination.
Trade Shows
Exhibitions open exclusively to business buyers (B2B).
Bleisure
Describes business delegates extending their trips to explore local attractions and drive secondary revenue.
Design Phase
The phase of the event management process involving brainstorming the theme and the overall atmosphere of the event.
Planning Phase
The phase of the event management process involving drafting strict budgets, securing venues, and signing supplier contracts.
Coordinating Phase
The phase of the event management process involving troubleshooting any sudden problems on the ground to keep things running smoothly.
Evaluation Phase
The phase of the event management process involving assessing what worked, what failed, and how to improve future events by gathering feedback.
Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB)
An organization operating generally as a not-for-profit under a management board whose primary role is to serve as an official voice for the destination it represents.
Familiarization Visits (FAM trips)
A CVB service that allows event planners to personally examine venues, hotels, and attractions before making a final destination decision.
Tourism Promotions Board (TPB)
An organization formerly known as the Philippine Convention & Visitors Corporation (PCVC).
International Association of Exhibitions and Events (IAEE)
The largest international association for individuals with business interests in the exhibition and event industry.
PACEOS
An organization established in 1981 to play a significant role in developing the Philippines into a leading exhibition and convention destination in Asia.
Memorandum of Agreement (MOA)
A formal contract drafted in Phase 3 of the bidding process to legally define the specific responsibilities of both parties after winning a bid.
Stakeholders
Individuals, groups, or organizations that are affected by the activity of the business or event.
Regulators
External governing entities affecting events, such as Safe Work SA and the Office of the Technical Regulator (OTR).
Event Coordinator
The role responsible for coordinating with all event professionals and ensuring that business operations are efficient and effective.
Information Manager
The role responsible for maintaining the database of service providers, delegates, guests, and media people.
Logistic Manager
The role expected to move goods and merchandise from one destination to the other in the most efficient manner and handle custom clearances.
Infrastructure Manager
The role responsible for setting up and dismantling the infrastructure for the whole event, such as stages, seating, and power rooms.
Event Master Plan
A management plan that allows you to ensure every aspect remains on track and includes timelines for permits, speakers, and registration.
Tagline
A short, memorable branding slogan that describes the event.
