Filtration
The process of materials passing through a filter from a region of Higher hydrostatic pressure to a region of Lower Hydrostatic pressure.
What determines which substance can pass through a filter?
The size of the molecule
Can Proteins pass through capillary filtration?
No, because they are very large particles that must be broken down.
Can Amino Acids pass through capillary filtration?
Yes, but they require active transport
Can Water pass through capillary filtration?
Yes, because of osmosis (diffusion of water). It does not require energy and moves in and out of the cells.
Can Red Blood Cells pass through capillary filtration?
No, they cannot pass, they stay where they are supposed to be which are vessels. They carry oxygen to muscle cells then they return to get more.
Do Blood Platelets pass through capillary filtration?
They cannot pass through normally because they go to site of injury and form a clot, so they go to where they are supposed to be
Can White Blood Cells pass through capillary filtration?
They can pass through. They are larger but move in an ameba method through the pores to get to the artery. It helps with infection and add to the cite of infection.

Passive transport of a molecule from high to low concentration.

Movement of a molecule from low to high concertation using ATP
